Blue Fig Deli

The brainchild of Janie, Blue Fig Deli is a small, independent producer.

“I make all the food available by hand, from scratch. I love food and I love creating food that people can enjoy without feeling too guilty.”

Janie has been a chef for over 35 years, starting her career in Michelin starred restaurants in London and South of France.  Blue Fig was started in 1999 by husband  and wife team Malcolm and Janie, solely catering events. Since then we have run a restaurant for 5 years and then started Blue fig deli just before Covid.

The idea was to create products that were better for you and not full of  preservatives. Our daughter is chief taster and certainly has a keen palate and a high level of constructive criticism and as a result the idea to launch another brand, Edielicious, was born. These products are aimed at children and are lower in sugar, don’t contain processed ingredients and taste better than the packs of processed bakes you find elsewhere.

Part of our range are our crackers which can be eaten on their own, served with  cheese, charcuterie or dips. They are all gluten free and vegan but come with a  warning…good luck eeking out the packet as once their opened its difficult to  stop!

We have a gluten free cheese oaties which are made with butter, gluten free oats and cheese off cuts from a variety of cheeses from High Weald dairy. This way we are using cheese that would normally be thrown away.

Our turmeric seeded crackers are extremely popular, again these are gluten free  as they’re made with gram flour and loaded with a variety of seeds.

Other crackers in the range are fig & aniseed and smoked paprika &garlic. We also make kimchi and Sauerkrauts, water kefir and kombucha. From the Edielicious range we have chocolate chip cookies, brownies and fudge amongst other products.

We are looking forward to seeing our customers at the Christmas market at  Tuppenny barn on 8th December where we will have the products mentioned  together with our Florentine topped Christmas cakes, Christmas cakes topped with homemade marzipan and icing (no nasties! Have you read the hieroglyphics on the back of marzipan and icing packets?) and our three types of Christmas pudding…Chocolate and orange (nut free), Traditional and our vegan, gluten free puddings.

We source our base ingredients from trusted suppliers and buy the best raw  ingredients we can to make the best products for you.  Refined sugar and palm  oil free, with an emphasis on gut health, I hope you will enjoy our products.

If you have any questions about the ingredients in our products then please get  in touch.

A keen recycler, we use eco packaging which is either made from recycled  products and is recyclable or compostable.  Jars and bottles can be returned for  sterilising and re-using.
