Gardeners’ Question Time – Sunday 1st December

We are proud to present a second Gardeners Question Time fundraiser on Sunday 1st Dec at 2pm.

Arit is not only is one of our patrons, she is a regular presenter for Gardeners World and Garden Rescue.  She worked in the fashion industry for 25 years before becoming a garden designer.  She has designed gardens at both RHS Hampton Court and RHS Chelsea Flower show with sustainability and climate change featuring as her main themes.  Last year she co-wrote The Essential Tree Selection Guide with Henrik Sjoman.  This summer she created the RHS Peat Free Garden at Hampton Court.  Arit was part of our panel back in 2021 for our very first GQT and we are delighted to have her return for this popular event.

Sarah was born in Australia in the state of Victoria.  After training in horticulture in Melbourne she has since worked in both Australia and the UK in the public and private sectors. She met her husband Jim Buckland when working at RBG Kew in the early eighties and since then they have worked together for 28 years on the internationally acclaimed West Dean Gardens restoring both the grounds and walled garden before retiring in 2019.  Sarah has been an RHS Committee member for many years and was Chair of the Professional Gardeners Guild.  She received the Award of Honour by the RHS in 2019 and has received a Chartered Institute of Horticultural Award.

Hannah has been growing plants at the highly esteemed Marchants Hardy Plants for 10 years. For the last 3 years, she has been running the nursery and been responsible for the 16 thousand plants grown every year. She thoroughly enjoys a propagating challenge, and in her spare time loves to see plants growing in the wild. Hannah is just about to launch her micro nursery ‘Bright Green Fox’ and is looking forward to many horticultural adventures ahead!

Henry has worked at several public gardens in the South, including at NT Nymans and Parham House in West Sussex, where he managed the walled garden’s herbaceous borders. Also at Sarah Raven’s Cutting Garden at Perch Hill, and most recently as Head Gardener at Marchants Hardy Plants, a pioneering nursery and garden in East Sussex.
